Dentures & Partial Dentures
A denture is a plastic appliance made to replace missing teeth and to closely resemble natural teeth and gum around. It is removable and needs to be clean every evening. It can improve chewing, digestion and may enhance a smile.
Removable of fixed dentures
Nowadays, dentures are made with flexible and comfortable resins. The denture needs to be checked and cleaned every year by your dentist. It can break and your dentist can repair it as well.
However, patients always prefer to have a fixed appliance instead of a removable one.
Bridges
A dental bridge is a fixed appliance that can replace missing tooth/teeth between other teeth. The space is filled by a bridge bonded to the adjacent teeth or dental implants. A fixed bridge can replace multiple teeth.
Dental Implants
For many years, the only treatment options available for people with missing teeth were bridges and dentures. But, today, dental implants are available.
Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth.
The implants are little titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. These metal anchors act as tooth root substitutes.
For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures.
The first step is to place implants within your jawbone. Once healed, the second step, will be to do ome impressions to attach securely an artificial teeth to the implant.
Like any restoration, implants require diligent oral hygiene and proper care to ensure they last a long time.
