What is sensitive tooth?
Having sensitive teeth can mean have discomfort that can last for several hours.
The tooth is made of different structures. There is enamel first, then dentin and in the inside there is the pulp, the nerve of the tooth. Enamel protects the tooth from the dentin. Dentin is close to the nerve of the tooth and any change of temperature or choc makes the tooth sensitive.
The part of the tooth inside the gum is not covered of enamel. If there is a gum recession, the dentin will be exposed and the tooth become sensitive.
What are the causes?
Sensitive teeth can be caused by:

Clenching-grinding: if you clench or grind the excess of pressure on your teeth will creates micro fractures that can cause enamel to be worn ax-way.
Dental erosion: acidic food and drinks can causes erosion by damaging the enamel. The dentin underneath is then exposed which lead to sensitivity. For exemple; sodas, smoothies, fruits..
Whitening treatments: whitening can creates sensitivity on every teeth. It can stays for couples days and as soon as the treatment is over, the teeth become less sensitive.
